Advantages: location, education, beautiful city

Disadvantages: quite cold!

I am currently studying Law and ever since the open Day at the University of Aberdeen I knew that this was the best place to be. They were so welcoming to new prospective students and instantly made you feel at ease and like this was your home. Aberdeen is always in the top spots for studying law in Scotland and that was reaffirmed as soon as I started lectures and tutorials. The Lecturers and Tutors were not only friendly and always looking to help, they were clear experts and knew exactly what they were talking about. But of course this is just talking about the quality of the Law School.
The location of the university is beautiful being in Old Aberdeen. Buildings like the Kings College and Elphinstone Hall are great looking old buildings, along with the cobbled streets. The lecturer threatres wish I was in was the biggest ones such as in MacRobert and the Arts lecture threatre and these were great and within a 5 minute walk of each other. A new library was just built and opened in the summer of 2011 which is absolutely spectacular. It is made of all glass, with 7 floors and is a great place to study during exam time with its late open hours. Of course there is also a very good separate law library with all the books and case reviews you could wish for.
I stayed at Hillhead for first year accommodation and it was amazing and really made my first year at university. I stayed at New Carnegie Court and could not recommend it enough. The union pub is in Hillhead and a two minute walk away. There is also a Lidl down the hill where you could go for the weekly shop and affordable prices. Buses come into Hillhead roughly every 20 minutes which was great, providing a 5 minute journey to university when you couldn't be bothered walking the 10 minute journey through the beautiful Seaton Park! It would also take about 20-25 minutes to get into Union Street.
For those going on a night out there is no competition to Aberdeen nightlife! From Hillhead it is about £12 to Union Street by Taxi and split between a few people is a very good price. There is many night clubs to chose from ranging from expensive to dirt cheap!

Summary: For those thinking about Aberdeen - go! You will not regret it. You will have the time of your life!
