Advantages: excellent town, great lecturers and some wonderful halls of residence

Disadvantages: poor library facilites for some subjects

I went to the university of Bristol and had the time of my life. The lecturers are all very knowledgeable and willing to help students with any additional queries they have. They are most helpful with going the extra mile and can really offer advice on how to excel in your subject. You also know that you are getting top quality information from them, with a large majority of the lecturers being published writers of non-fiction and being recognised as experts in their field.

Although there are many libraries at the university, the books in stock are sometimes disappointing. There is a system where you can recall a book but I have found this unhelpful. The union building is also in a dire state although is due for an upgrade at any time, fortunate as it is currently in a horrible way! Having said this, many efforts are being made to put on good events there.

The halls of residence vary in quality, although the three halls in clifton village are certainly ones to apply for, because hiking all the way from stoke bishop is not something anybody would want to do on a freezing winter morning across the downs which are quite dangerous in the dark.

Being a city university, it really does feel like part of the community and it won't be long before you can't go out without bumping into somebody you know. I would love to go back and do it all again, I can't recommend Bristol uni enough!
