Advantages: Course choices, reputation, great city to live, lots of info given.
Disadvantages: Expensive city.
I'm a second year Sociology student at Bristol university, and so far i've been largely impressed by the institution.
The University itself is largely built in historic buildings, and being non-campus based is spread around the small, picturesque Clifton area of Bristol (though some Halls are located a fair distance away in Stoke Bishop). The centre of the university being the grandeur of the Wills Memorial building that stands at the top of Park Street.
The university is great at giving detailed information regarding every aspect of university life, from application to graduation, you will never feel ignored. The university offers a huge range of courses, and sells them well at the open days that are held every year. The open days give huge amounts of information, and there is always guidance available not only for applicants but for students of the university as well.
The union, despite not being the most active venue in the city, houses a huge number of societies regarding almost anything you can think of, from Animal lovers to chocoholics, to young entrepreneurs and beyond! The union has recently opened it's own student housing office to help students find private lets in the city, and has done much to help improve resources and the university as a whole for students.
All staff at the university appear to be passionate about their work, and the teaching quality across all subjects is highly regarded, and of a high standard. The reputation of Bristol university is most definitely there for a reason.
Summary: Bristol university lives up to its reputation.
