University of East Anglia in generalNewest Review: ... The main building is a long concrete snakelike creation that isnt too aesthetically pleasing as it was built in the 70's, it is often nic-named the 'Concrete Jungle' however inside it is very up tp date with plenty of disabled access. The halls of residence are nearly all only a few years old or brand new. Most have en suit facilities however there are some which still share bathroom facilities. If you want an en suit however you will pay in the region of £70-80 a week. The Student Union Bar is quite large and underwent a major refit only a couple of years ago. It serves anything from hand pull ales, lagers and spirits to coffee coke and ... more |

The University of East Anglia in Norwich is a big university that is increasing in size all the time in population and reputation. It is to the east of the city centre about 2 miles out. The campus in itself is like a little town. It has a barclays, HSBC and Natwest bank, a waterstones bookshop, a newsagents, a post office, a supermarket and a laundrette. Not to mention the bar, resturants and club that also are on campus. One of the biggest highlights of the University of East Anglia's academic calendar is its Literary Festivals. Now, the UEA is known for its English Faculty (especially the creative writing department, which boasts the current Poet Laureate, Andrew Motion, amongst its staff) but this really is something else. Moreover, it's not the preserve of academics, students or any so-called 'intellectual elite' as I once thought. It's full of people who have one thing in common: they love a good book. EVENTS There are two programmes of events. The first is in the Autumn Semester, usually running from September to December. Hosted by the ... Read the complete review

There's a very easy way for me to tell everyone the quality of life and education at the University of East Anglia... I came here last year on exchange from America. I loved it here so much, I transfered. Yes, I'm now finishing my degree here and plan to do a BA as well. Enough said. I'm in the film course and we get to use broadcast quality stuff. Last year we used digital cameras in my documentary class. My classes are very small and well taught. The campus is well situated not very far from the town centre. Accomodations are adequate although I much prefer living off campus. All in all, a great school. I ... Read the complete review

I finished studying there just over a year ago now but still reside in Norwich so able to provide a cultured response. Situated on the West of the City between the leafy suburbs of Eaton, the Avenues and the not so glamorous Earlham, the UEA basks in its 1960’s architectural glory, concrete in abundance. Thus when it’s raining you may find it a little difficult to see its beauty. Fortunately as it is in the East we have more sunlight hours than most. The Lake, is its crowning glory. Situated a hundred yards from the on campus halls of residence and the ‘walkway’ connecting the main of the campus together, the lake provides an ... Read the complete review

OK so it might be a concrete jungle but when the sun shines the concrete takes on a golden hue...honest its not that bad. I had four happy years at the university of easy access. The school of Chemicals Sciences is a well run department mainly down the efforts of one secretary ,as someone has to look after all the old doddery professors who have been over exposed to organic solvents. On the whole I found that the university was supportive in a time of crisis ( I had to intercalate for a year) and very accommodating to students with special needs. Academic standards are rigorous with many of the school being at the top of their respective fields. This includes Biology, ... Read the complete review
