UEL University of East London in generalNewest Review: ... A previous problem I have experienced was when I try to register for my choice module for the course that I was doing. Upon doing so, the Psychology help desk failed to register me for the correct modules and when trying to resolve this issue, they turned me to my personal tutor, which at the time I was not assigned to one as I was a newly enrolled student. It took three weeks before I was able to attend my first class and had to be done through the general help desk rather than the psychology help desk. I later found out that I was never registered on any modules because the Psychology help desk lost my application when I registered for my ... more |

I am currently at this university undertaking a graduate diploma in psychology and from my previous experience of being a student, this uni is very poor. I previously attended City university and Westminster university and in comparison to either universities, UEL is really, really bad. I am located at the Stratford campus which boasts about a newly built building and don't get me wrong is nice but has nothing to do with improving a person's education. The facilities are poor, the teaching is poor and transport to the uni is inconvenient. During my second week(which was the fifth week of teaching) I noticed that most of my lectures were in the older building which ... Read the complete review

I am a professional Designer but against good advice I did the final year of a Fine art degree at this university in 2005-6 but decided against doing further study here due to the dubious staff-ethics, and worryingly vulnerable students id experienced... On a superficial level the Docklands campus looks an interesting building but a better example of a fascard is hard to imagin. Jets at the next door city airport thunder in all day long...The work areas provided are very noisy, the alternative for students to work in their diggs is also 'not happening' as these are tiny..staff are quite rude and condescenting towards less able students...and at the time ... Ignore those bitter deriding and dividing types, UEL is, actually, pretty good. I've just finished my second of three years on a Journalism Degree course and I've found it good. The staff in the SSMCS school are generally helpful and interesting, the Uni provides all of the facilities that I require, not just for my Uni work but for my own pet projects as well. I've seen people that haven't had such a good experience at UEL, but that's often because they have made little or no effort. I do some of the reading I need to, I turn up to most lectures and because of that I get good marks (I'm somewhere between a 2.1. and a first at the ... Read the complete review

Ah well, I feel really old writing this. When I was 18 and sitting reading its prospectus the name on the front was the Polytechnic of East London, it became a Uni when I was in my 2nd year (I think). I studied Law and got an undeserved Desmond (Tutu-2:2). Undeserved because if it wasn't for my innate good fortune then I would be the proud owner of a Turd (Third). Barking..aahh...punting on the river...cooling bottles of wine in the Cam...No, thats "Brideshead Revisited". Barking was my lovely home for 3 years, if you come from a down-at-heel-but-not-rock-hard area then you'll feel at home, the place has a scruffy charm that nearby ... Read the complete review

The last few years has seen an increase in newer universities, that offer a semester system and are in many ways more like America's education system, ie. they offer electives and also a modular study system. One of these newer universities, is The University of East London. The university of East London, has improved tremendously in the last few years. It has five campuses, Stratford, Barking (the main one), Greengate, Duncun house and the newly built Docklands. I will concentrate on the Barking campus, the one I was at, when describing life at the university. I graduated from the university almost 2 years ago, and I am 100% sure I chose the right ...
