University of Essex in generalNewest Review: ... I believe that everyone can enjoy their time here. The accommodation at the University caters for all, there are the high rise towers that pack approximately 14 or so students into a flat, providing an instant circle of friends and great social life. For those who prefer things a little bit more quiet, there are the South Courts, where students can expect to share a flat with approximately 6 or so others, making use of the same kitchen but enjoying an en-suite bathroom. I visited Essex last month and was so impressed by the environment of the campus and the friendly students there. Although it is not a very top university, I think both staff and students are putting continuous effort in making it a more reputable one providing a more inducive learning atmosphere. Some departments receive very high ratings while a few may still have a long way to go.
As I stayed in a nearby B&B, the hosts and the guests had a very high regard of the university and said that it has made significant progress in recent years. I plan to recommend this university to my friends.

The university was built in the 1960s at roughly the same time as Warwick, York and the UEA. Its concrete buildings are not particularly attractive aesthetically, but the construction of more modern buildings in recent years has given the campus a more contemporary feel. The most recent of these is a new centre homing the departments of history, psychology and accounting. Academically the ... Read the complete review
