University of Glamorgan in generalNewest Review: ... stated that they are a car friendly university, unlike other such as Cardiff University where there is no university car park. But it is just the same if there are not enough car park space. A good point that I can say about the universities car park is the cost of use, which is £1; which is extremely good value for money. Although the university is in discussions about increasing the number of avaliable spaces, through the building of a multi story car park instead of a single level as is currently present. Although the price of parking will increase if the development will go ahead. There are also certain bus operaters that operate a s... more |

The University of Glamorgan is a former ploytechnic that was turned into a university in 1992. Originally the university consisted of a single campus, although the university expanded in subsequent years. The university is suited to both students that will reside either at the univeristy, the surrounding areas or students that are willing to travel. I am one of those students that was willing to travel, as I live in Cardiff, just a half and hours drive away from the university along the motorway; I did not want to pay to stay in one of the universities halles of residence. There are a number of ways in which a student can travel to the university, this is by ... Read the complete review

I studied at the university of Glamorgan between 2000-2003 and like the other people have put, i had the best time there. I chose to do Physical Geography, a course that only 9 universities in the whole country had on offer so the choice wasn't that great. I went to other universities but they just didn't offer what this university did. The university is situated just off the A470 from Cardiff, just by Pontypridd in a town called Treforest, South Wales, and is situated entirely on one side of the valley. The campus is situated at the bottom of the hill, while the halls are at the top of the hill. I lived at the top of the hill for two of the three ... Read the complete review

I studied at the University of Glamorgan for 3 years from 2005 - 2008 and had a truly fantastic time. For my first year I stayed in a flat halls of residence in the Glamorgan Court section (nicknamed Beverly Hills as we had the luxury of an ensuite bathroom! The other halls - Philip Evans/Squire have shared bathrooms). In Glamorgan Court there are 6 people in every flat. My room was quite small but had everything I needed. I also hired a fridge for the year so I could keep drinks/snacks in my room. The kitchens in Glamorgan Court were quite large with plenty of cupboard space and you share with the 5 others in your flat. The benefits of the halls ... Read the complete review

I can't comment on how good Glamorgan is for undergraduates, but I did spend a year doing an MSc there. I think this gives a very different insight into a place. I had already done the mad student Fresher thing, so had different priorities. The most obvious problem was its location - quite far outside Cardiff. However, this didn't actually turn out to be much of a hassle, as there were brilliant train links, which weren't too expensive when armed with a student card. Lots of people live on campus too, and I did notice plenty of accomodation still for let there well into the academic year. The university itself has good faciliites including a ... I studied at Glamorgan University for 4 years before graduating with a 2:1 in Computer Studies and I can truthfully say that it is one of the best in wales. It is situated just off the A470 at the Pontpridd turnoff opposite Pontypridd college, which is a 20 minute drive from Cardiff. At first I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleased with the outcome. I quickly made friends and settled in nicely and I have no regrets about choosing Glamorgan. The facilities for students are excellent, with 1000's of computers a huge library, cash point machines, travel shop and newsagents, 2 bars, a restuarant, 3 snackbars, a club and a large ...
