University of Huddersfield in generalNewest Review: ... social work professional and teach on special occassions. All staff have a university email, which they check regulary if you need to ask for help. The uni also have specialist teachers to help students with academic writing, these are very helpful, especialy for 1 to 1 help! *food* On site there is a small cafe in nearly every building and a few restaurants dotted around campus. All of these are reasonably cheap and are not stingy with portions! Cafe on 3rd is great for breakfast!! *parking* This is very poor for students! there is a small staff car park off firth street and wakefield road, which students can normallysneak into after ... more |

I am currently at Huddersfield studying Social Work. *Classes/lecture* The size of my classes vary from 50 to 100, depending if we join up with another subject area, such as criminology. I find the lectures vary depending on which lecturer is teaching. Sometimes you can spent 2 hours listening and watching a boring slideshow, other can be filled with case studies, group activites, presentations, individual dtusy and guest speakers. Class rooms also vary depending on the building, some have individual tables and desks, others are more traidtional lecture theatures with rising seats. There are also some multi million ££ WOW classrooms, ... Read the complete review

I have just graduated from the University of Huddersfield, well back in July but it feels like yesterday...lol. I studied Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors and gained a 2:1 with Honours. ~The University buildings~ Its quite a large university set in a lot of different buildings. Some of the building are very old: The Ramsden building on the ring road was built before 1883 and housed an art exhibition back then. The older buildings in my opinion are the nicest to look at. Also a lot of the University is in a huge converted textiles mill, these buildings have been restored beautifully by the ... Read the complete review

When deciding on my choice of University I got it down to two main choices , either Huddersfield or Sunderland . Unfortunately more me I chose Huddersfield and into Hell I was placed . The University can be summed up as following : (1) No decent sports facilities , no plans to change that . (2) The University do not care for the extra-curricular and will not promote the University sports teams . (3) They control their tuition fee collection with an iron like grip . (4) They haven't put any money into the Media facilities since 1904 when writing was introduced as an art form . This University plough money into ... Read the complete review

Huddersfield University/mill is a decent but not excellent Univeristy. I have spent one year at the univeristy and decided to leave after completing the first year and moved on to something better. For computing degrees I would rate this univeristy at 4/5, but overall not very highly. Computing is taught quite well with the exception of a few lecturers. The computing facilities are ok, nothing to write home about. At the end of the day it is your choice where you want to go, but I would say if you want to enjoy University life, check out some other Universities, your bound to find better!!!. ... I were at Huddersfield Poly between 1980 and 1984 doing a Computing Degree. Note the doing - not reading Computing. We weren't pretensious ! Coming from Stratford-Upon-Avon, Huddersfield in the White Rose County was a bit of a shock. Everyone went on the razzle on Friday/Saturday nights and proceeded to stagger up to the Bus Station to catch the last bus home to quaint sounding places like Slaithwaite, Denby Dale and Outlane. There was a chippie just across the Distribution road which sold square fish in batter and chips for 50p. You asked for 'bits' and were given bits of batter. In the Town Centre was the Piazza. Made into a ... Read the complete review
