University of Kent at Canterbury in generalNewest Review: ... from south east london, essex, sussex and kent. Particularly if you are studying English Literature as it is very high in the league tables for that subject. Most popular subjects taken are English Lit, Law and Business. Though there a re a great diversity of subjects on offer, with a lot of buildings to cater. Campus is wide spread out, green and has a really beautiful view of town, especially seeing the cathedral lit up at night! The range of buildings on campus means your classes will be dotted all over so you do tend to get to explore campus quite a bit and socialise with people out of your subject (my boyfriend takes bio med, my frien... more |

University of Kent is situated in South East England in Canterbury. From London it is just over an hour in the train costing about £16 open return with a 16-25 railcard! So if like me, you were originally from london, it is far enough to give yourself independance and live in a new space other than home, but near enough to come back when you want to! Especially handy when you miss your mum's sunday roast! A lot of home students from Kent generally come from south east london, essex, sussex and kent. Particularly if you are studying English Literature as it is very high in the league tables for that subject. Most popular subjects taken are English ... Read the complete review

The University of Kent at Canterbury is a very good univeristy, it has a reputation of delivering first class teaching. I am back there as a post grad on an MSc course - biosciences/history. The campus itself is pretty large with a good number of eating and drinking places. I doubt anyone would go hungry there. There is a direct link with the buses from the town centre to the uni also that run very regularly, round about every 5 minutes - till very late. The academic library is excellent, just about every book or journal you'll ever need is housed there. The security for access to the library is very good also. Staffing on the ... The University of Kent at Canterbury ... Probably the person that decided to give this name to our little university was not the most creative person of all. Yes, it is obviously situated at Canterbury and was probably meant to be THE university of Kent for all those Kentians in its surroundings, but it has certainly changed from that into something fairly different and by no means more negative. Instead of teaching mainly people from Kent or even mainly people from England, "UKC" has an amazing number of foreigners studying there - and that is exactly what gives it its international charme. I have been studying at Kent for three years now, doing a ... Read the complete review

Although I havent done a Egon Ronay style road trip around all of the Uks universities I feel safe in recomending UKC to others. Though I have only my own personal experience and the unanimously positive word of mouth given to me by a number of friends (and friends of friends) to go by, I feel sure that UKC is one of the countries finest higher education institutions. It has a wonderfull self contained atmosphere, the campus is on a hill above the town of Canterbury, and thus feels like a close knit and friendly community, there is a cinema, a theatre and 5 bars, so finding new friends has been relatively easy. Whats more there is no commuting around as the campus has its ... Read the complete review

I spent three years at the University of Kent at Canterbury (shortened sensibly to UKC) and it was a wonder I ever got there at all. I just didn’t want to go. As far as I was concerned my friends, boyfriend and basically my entire life were in my home town in Cornwall. There was just no way I wanted to leave. I refused to visit any of the universities before making my selection and hoped it would all go away. It didn’t and after a very tense (and incredibly long) drive up to Kent (and a big scene at Exeter service station when my Mum said we might as well go home because I was making no effort – not strictly true I was putting in a fine ...
