Advantages: Picturesque, quiet, amenities

Disadvantages: Spread out

University of Kent is situated in South East England in Canterbury.

From London it is just over an hour in the train costing about £16 open return with a 16-25 railcard! So if like me, you were originally from london, it is far enough to give yourself independance and live in a new space other than home, but near enough to come back when you want to! Especially handy when you miss your mum's sunday roast!

A lot of home students from Kent generally come from south east london, essex, sussex and kent. Particularly if you are studying English Literature as it is very high in the league tables for that subject. Most popular subjects taken are English Lit, Law and Business.
Though there a re a great diversity of subjects on offer, with a lot of buildings to cater.

Campus is wide spread out, green and has a really beautiful view of town, especially seeing the cathedral lit up at night! The range of buildings on campus means your classes will be dotted all over so you do tend to get to explore campus quite a bit and socialise with people out of your subject (my boyfriend takes bio med, my friends take eng lit like me, psychology, sociology, and a range of subjects)

There are 4 main colleges, and all students will belong to one of them, and registered to one college. This does not mean anything other than for admin purposes, you will not have to have classes there or live there. The colleges are Keynes, Eliot, Rutherford and Darwin. Each of these colleges has a big building for each one, with lecture halls, seminar rooms, student accomodation and a bar in each one. Other accomodation is the Tyler Court blocks - a bit more luxurious, or Park Wood, basically a village of houses made for students, through a leafy woods.

Amenities are vast and campus often fills like a little bubble where everything is provided for you. There is a gym, student banks, cash points, 6 bars, 1 nightclub, a co-op, uni wear clothes shop, book shop and many cafes. Also a cinema and theatre!

It is a lovely place to come to uni in, though i do miss the hustle and bustle of home.

Summary: Nice
