I have just completed a three year undergrauate degree in Geological Sciences at the University of Leeds and i loved it.

academicaly the place is no cambridge or oxford, but it has a tangeble grounding in the practical aspect of the subjects it teaches. this was perfect for me and the course i wanted to do as it offered real world training.

The university itself is pretty big, with a nice large campus about a mile north of the city centre, allowing very easy access to the city. The union is run by students for students and is one of the largest and most progressive in the world. it has a world famous venue for gigs called the refectory (also the food hall) where the who famously played a gig. the union also offers 3 nightclubs, another bar and a pub along with several shops and food retailers serving dishes from cornish pasties to sushi.

leeds itself is a hive of night life with the most active of any student social scene i have heard about. there is always a party which you can get in to somewhere in leeds, if not you can just start your own and because most of the students live in the Hyde Park-Headingly area then there are always people to have a chat to. Leeds night life lends its reputation to leeds students aswell, with a noticeable difference in alcohol tolerance between any student that has enjoyed leeds night life and those that have not.

all in all, i love Leeds University and will remember it fondly for the rest of my life and would recommend it to anyone.
