University of Liverpool in general

Newest Review: ... a good incentive to work hard during this time. The nightlife is an important factor for any University location, it was one of top reason why i chose Liverpool, I came with high expectations and i wasn't disappointed. Freshers week is a week of pure madness, the university organise a themed night, for every night of the week! These range from School Disco to Roller disco and anything in between! It's a great way to socialise and get to know the people you'll be living with for the following year. Once freshers week has been and gone, you can now explore what the city really has to offer. There are a huge number of bars a clubs to choose fr... more

I am currently studying BA Geography at the University of Liverpool, having recently completed my first year i am currently enjoying the summer break before the real work begins during the second year! Full university status was achieved in 1903 and has since grew in popularity and established itself as a first class university. There are currently over 20,000 people studying at the University of Liverpool, 16,800 of which are undergraduates whilst the remaining 3,800 positions are filled by postgraduates. The main campus is situated close to the city center and dominates much of the surrounding area, a map is available if you visit the University of Liverpool ...  Read the complete review

I've been various kinds of student at the University of Liverpool since 2001 - undergraduate (aka "miss lazy-pants"), masters student (aka "have used up all my words now, no more speaking"), and now a PhD student; this review will cover all the areas in which I've had experience. As a first-year at Liverpool, you are usually housed in Halls - there are two main sites, called Greenbank and Carnatic, both of which offer catered accomodation (breakfast and dinner, with optional lunches). There are a few places for first years in the self-catered halls on the campus, but these are mainly reserved for postgrads. Each of the two main ...  Read the complete review

I have studied a Business Degree at Liverpool University. It is absolutely massive. It must run into hundreds of buildings and takes up a large part of the outer area of Liverpool City Centre. Parking used to be great. Sadly last year they started putting barriers up and payment meters, so you can expect to pay a parking fee each day. Many of the buildings are quite modern, others are converted Victorian Buildings including a hospital. The staff are as a whole quite friendly. They have a great Vetinary School and the Business School is very highly recommended too. The University itself attracts many different people from around the world. There are ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review An alright but not great student experience (218 words)

I attended the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2008. In my first year I stayed in halls, which was good fun. There is lots to do for students, many different cheap nights out and good shops. Most of the students seem to come from private schools and rich backgrounds, which is not so good for a plain pauper like me, it can be hard to find things in common. The University itself is ok, suppose it depends on what subject you are studying. They leave you to get on with it yourself, which is a good thing for me because I like to work like that. The campus itself is huge, and can be quite daunting and hard to navigate at first but you soon get ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review University of Liverpool in general: Which Uni? Gotta be Liverpool (347 words)

Oh to be a student again. I went to the University of Liverpool between 1997 and 2002 and can honestly say I loved every minute of it. I stayed in Rankin Hall on the Carnatic Site in the first year and despite the bare plaster walls, the aluminum, temporary (since 1971) window frames and the 3 times-a-week fire alarms it was a great place to be. Theres a massive sense of community on the Carnatic Site - a feeling thats much needed for poor, trembly freshers who are missing their mums cooking and that coupled with a fantastically, almost rural setting its a brilliant place to start your Uni life. The food isnt great but the idea of all students eating ...  Read the complete review
