Advantages: Well known red-brick uni

Disadvantages: No good student union

I attended the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2008. In my first year I stayed in halls, which was good fun.

There is lots to do for students, many different cheap nights out and good shops. Most of the students seem to come from private schools and rich backgrounds, which is not so good for a plain pauper like me, it can be hard to find things in common.

The University itself is ok, suppose it depends on what subject you are studying. They leave you to get on with it yourself, which is a good thing for me because I like to work like that. The campus itself is huge, and can be quite daunting and hard to navigate at first but you soon get used to it. Support is there if you need it, but you have to go and grab it, they dont push it on you.

The bad thing about Liverpool Uni is the student union, or lack of student union. They have the guild, and have student nights on, but they have got worse over time and no longer seemed to be popular when I left. Other Unis have a union that is cheap and more like a bar, open all the time. Liverpool doesn't have that!

Summary: To be honest, I wouldn't go back!

You know, I never had Liverpool down as somewhere that attracted lots of private students. Don't know why.
