University of Plymouth in generalNewest Review: ... eys so i was unable to get a place in halls accomodation which i was very down heartened about, as in my opinion this is the main way you make friends to start with. There are only enough halls accomodation for around 50% of the first years, unlike a lot of other universities where all first years can get a place, due to this i had to move into a house straight away with a bunch of people who previously knew each other. This was a little awquard at first but i felt at home very quickly. Plymouth university is situated right in the middle of the city centre which is excellent and only a few minutes away from the barbican and the hoe w... more |

Im actually studing at plymouth university doing my Ba in 3D Design at the moment and i have just completed my first year. I previously started a degree elsewhere last year but found it not to be for me, so i decided to change to plymouth and so far i have found it to be a good move. As i am only from torquay i am a local in their eys so i was unable to get a place in halls accomodation which i was very down heartened about, as in my opinion this is the main way you make friends to start with. My review is for BA (hons) Accounting and Finance and the University in general. Let me start about talking about the good points and then I'll move on to the rest. Firstly if you're looking for somewhere with plenty of things to do and a good nightlife, Plymouth is your University, plenty of bars (4 wetherspoons, varsity, big SU bar, vodka revs, walkabout....) theres the hoe which is a very nice spot by the sea where they do graduations also. The uni and city have plenty of activities available such as sailing, skiing, boating, martial arts, football, rugby, hockey etc etc and are very reasonable. As for the bad points, Plymouth isn't ranked highly ... Read the complete review

I have lived in plymouth all my life and wanted to stay here to study my undergrad degree. Although i have lived there all my life i knew little about the actual place and what subjects/courses it provides. So went to an open day, with very friendly staff that were really informative - and also received lots of goodies like free pens as well so that was good! I went away and thought about what subjects to put down on my application. I then attended the university for three years to do my degree. The people are just fab here, not only the lecturers but at the student union, the library staff and even the cleaners! I found they would help you the best way they ... Read the complete review

Hey there! Well I thought that its about time to start writing some opinions again, places I've been, people I've seen. I thought today I'd give you my thoughts on the University of Plymouth, Ive been there for just over 3 months now, I'm studying Marine sports Technology. So what have I learnt about Plymouth that I thinks valuable advice to be given out in dooyoo. COURSES THEY HAVE TO OFFER: Plymouth does have a wide array of courses and I really am only qualified to talk about a few of them. My course and its area of Marine Technology, my girlfriends of computing, and two friends I have that study Biology and Geography. My ... Read the complete review

Plymouth uni, is one of the "new" universities, that will put many people off as we all know of the problems of academic snobbery and the like, but the fact is that for some subjects the "new" uni's are actually doing a better job of teaching them and attracting students nor just if they fail thei a levels as many suggest, but also those who want a less stuffy and more modern approach. Plymouth uni can be a bit of a treck if you don't live in the southwest, it is about 4 hours from the midlands, 2 hours from Bristol and an hour from Exeter. Location wise in all other aspects it is fantastic. If you love the sea and beautiful ... Read the complete review
