Advantages: Central to all important places! Alot of new modern buildings!

Disadvantages: Lacking in reputation, some buildings are old and cold!

I have lived in plymouth all my life and wanted to stay here to study my undergrad degree. Although i have lived there all my life i knew little about the actual place and what subjects/courses it provides. So went to an open day, with very friendly staff that were really informative - and also received lots of goodies like free pens as well so that was good! I went away and thought about what subjects to put down on my application.

I then attended the university for three years to do my degree. The people are just fab here, not only the lecturers but at the student union, the library staff and even the cleaners! I found they would help you the best way they could. The course was also good and i had a throughly good time while i was there.

In terms of location it is now very central to the new Drake Circus shopping complex, which has a variety of shops and there is a tesco metro for those students that need to buy food without a car! Opposite the university there are two smaller bars called Cuba and Ride - brilliant! Definitely worth a night out and you can go in there with a variety of music, people and drinks! Also they have special food deals which is also very good! Jakes which is a food place is a favourite with the students and that is a short walk away from the uni.

There is a slight lack of reputation for plymouth uni i feel - and this hopefully will grow as they have just put a new arts department onto it and the growing success of the business and science subjects.

Overall Plymouth Uni is the place to be if you want close nightlife - good teaching staff, a modern fully equipped library to help you with your studies etc. The only downfall i will say is that you probably need some money saved up - what with the pubs/bars so close it is too tempting to not go in!

Summary: Lovely univerity, well welcome, but lacking in reputation
