Advantages: Lots on offer

Disadvantages: Jordanhill has not less student association facilities

The University of Strathclyde has 2 campuses - John Anderson and Jordanhill (Formally Jordanhill Teacher Training College.) The John Anderson campus is situated in the city centre and incorporates Strathclyde Graduate Business School, whilst Jordanhill is the Education Faculty.

The main student union is based in the city centre campus but there are also facilities at Jordanhill. There are a wide variety of clubs in the University as well.

Strathclyde University likes to think of itself as a forward thinking institution and therefore it tries to promote education for all and lifelong learning. The University tries to provide an extensive part-time curriculum and evening classes in order to provide a flexible approach to learning.

The University and disability.
The University has a Special Needs Dept. which will try to help with any problems that you might encounter if you have any special learning needs. In terms of disabled access Strathclyde is trying but has a long way to go. The John Anderson campus has numerous buildings dispersed within an area of the city centre. (Most are on steep hills and have a lot of steps, wheelchair access is restrictive. Jordanhill is slightly better but still not great. Both libraries however do have stairlifts.

A lot if the pubs and clubs have students discounts, as do many of the shops. I have not commented on the accommodation in this opinion due the fact that I actually commute to attend Uni. Travelling to both campuses is fairly good but John Anderson is obviously a lot easier due to the central location. Jordanhill is slightly more awkward but there is a regular train and bus service. The University also runs a free bus service every couple of hours between the two campuses, so if you can time it right travel is easy.

Strathclyde has a lot to offer and in my opinion Glasgow is a great place to study.
