Advantages: good library facilities

Disadvantages: In the most remote place in the world

Aberystywyth University has good library facilities and moderate halls of residence, but Aberystwyth itself is so small and claustrophobic that you'll be screaming to get out if you've come from a city. The best shop in the whole town is a Woolworths, and the place is so small that if you drunkenly snogged someone ugly the whole town will laugh at you the next day. Rent is extortionate as there are so few houses around, and the weather is abysmal. My biggest regret is going here.

The feel of the town is waht makes Aber. Relaxed, peaceful, and enough beautiful scenery to egt lost in. And that's without even making mention of the cheap pubs...

I do agree with Gremmie. I believe that a place is only as good as you make it, and you really didn't seem to give it a go. It's the first time I've heard from anyone who didn't enjoy it there. The whole town feels like the student village. You always happen to meet people you know, but always have the chance to meet new people. I really feel sorry you didn't get to know the Aber the rest of us did.

Rubbish - it's the size of the town that makes it so good. You can walk into a pub and know that one of your mates will be there. Everything is within walking distance, and the taxis are cheap if you can't be bothered to walk up the hill. Everyone is friendly, and there's a great relationship with the locals. As for rent being extortionate, I don't think so. Cheap deals can easily be found by shopping around a bit. I love Aberystwyth - best place on the planet.
