Advantages: Great enterainment and friendly

Disadvantages: Quite isolated

I've been at aber for four years. I did my degree there, and so didn't want to leave, I did my MA there as well. Never judge a book by it's cover. My first impression of the town was to run, as fay away as possible. Coming from the city, the place seemed too alien for me. But after a couple of days, you realise how much the uni and the town has going for it. Being small, you get to meet loads of people fast, and you'll get to see them everyday for your time there. The uni has brilliant night time entertainment, with cheap club nights and cheap drink, this is on top of all the bars in town that seem to make up 50% of the place.

The atmosphere is both freindly and lively. To be fair, all you can do is eat and drink. There are two cinemas and two theatres, which you can include with your eating andd drinking. The town is completely geared towards the students, making it feel the the town is one huge campus. You'll never have far to go to lectures, and you can be really spontaneous, and plan things at the last minute because everything is so immediately available.

Getting out of the place is a bit time consuming, with only a few trains leaving each day, and taking a good two hours to find a town outside aber. But you have the seaside and the countryside at your doorstep, and if you can live with out shopping in modern stores, this is the place for you.

Eat, drink and be merry (and study if you can fit it in.
