Back in 1992 I was gutted, having under-achieved in my A-Levels and was faced with the nightmare of clearing. I remember looking at the paper feeling dejected and as I was looking for something in the Politics section, I saw University of Wales, Aberystwyth. Sounds good I'll give them a ring...the rest is history.

Aber is fantastic, I had the best 3 years of my life in this great town. Not only is the University pretty top-notch academically but it is possibly the best place to study in the UK. I visited loads of mates at their universities (cities, campuses) and none of them could compete with Aber.

Theres nothing like stumbling up the HUGE hill after a few bevvies of an evening (although I usually got a cab!). And even more so taking a life saving walk along the seafront the morning after.

The town itself is pretty quiet on the shop front but there are lots of pubs to suit all tastes. Whilst I was there the Untion was pretty useless and so were reliant on the town for a good night out. Even though it is quiet it still has a busy feel to it (mainly because it is the biggest place around for miles).

I still go back regularly to visit friends who couldn't tear themselves away and to relive my stdent days - although I lost the pace a long time ago.....
