Advantages: Friendly people, Everything's within walking distance, Lots of friends

Disadvantages: You can get fed up sometimes (usually cured by a shopping trip to Chester), Not really for people who want a raging nightlife

Where do I start? Bangor Uni's great!

Meeting people and settling in is not a problem here, as you get to know lots of people really quickly. There's a peer guide system here too, where 2nd and 3rd years (if they're needed!) look after freshers - in a way, they are ready-made friends for you. After a while, you realise that everyone knows everyone else, and getting to lectures can sometimes take aaaaaaages, as you keep bumping into people you know.

Most of the lecturers are really friendly and are actually interested in teaching you, not just interested in their own research. They're genuinely interested in your welfare too. All the staff do their best to be friendly and helpful.

OK, so the nightlife's not like London or Leeds, but Bangor is also smaller. I'm a student anyway, so I couldn't afford loads of nights out in London! There are 2 nightclubs, which are usually cheap to get in - and the best night at the SU is free! There are loads of pubs - the ones in Upper Bangor are more studenty. There's just enough going on for you not to get bored.

There are tons of clubs and societies to join or try out too.

The accommodation's not far from the Uni at all - but you will get very fit going to lectures, as Bangor's full of hills (a no-no for high heels!). I used to love waking up to see snowy mountains out of the kitchen window... :-)

If anyone's considering coming to Bangor to study German, DO IT! I've never regretted it. They're a fab department!

Hmmm, never studied German, now i'm curious as to what Malu has said below!
Like she said though, do read around a bit, it will bring in more money in the end.
I live nr. Llandudno so I can agree with you, Bangor certainly is not for high heels!

Hi and welcome! Read around a bit so that you get the hang of dooyoo. Of course you can do what you like, but it would certainly be advisable to work more thoroughly on one op instead of posting several shallow ones in one day. You’d get more reads that way and in the end more money. - Nach diesem Bericht soll sich jemand entschließen, in Bangor Deutsch zu studieren??? Da lachen ja die Hühner! Ein paar mehr Infos wären hier wohl angebracht. Malu
