Advantages: Professional, personal attntion of tutor, excellent facilities
Disadvantages: Small class size, Needs two bar, Needs to increase its funding for advertisment
University of Wales has the advantages of a small class size, which retains the feel of a small community. My class of 20 people allows for very intimate interaction. The class is my home within University of Wales, Newport. In the CBA stage, we take the same classes together, have class parties, and build lasting friendships. You really get to know everyone in your class. Without this experience, I might never have had the chance to develop 20 close friendships with people from backgrounds very different from my own. But don't get me wrong. Section is only one part of it. In my CBA stage, I joined a study group that met in the morning before class to discuss the cases and subjects for that day. My group had eight people, and we had a ton of fun helping each other learn and getting to know each other better. Being a residential campus, University of Wales, Newport provides a dynamic community where students from different backgrounds, countries and interests live and learn from each other. In addition, with over 60 student-run clubs -- ranging from Entrepreneurship to Equestrian enthusiasts,--there are plenty of opportunities to get to know your classmates outside of class. This dynamic environment helps foster strong personal and professional relationships that last a lifetime. University of Wales, Newport is an amazing place where fun is hardly in short supply. Finding a balance here is no different than doing so in the working world and, as an old boss used to say, "If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right." Before I got here, I heard stories about how tough a business school would be. While it is unquestionably rigorous, it's worth noting that a lot of fun is had in class, however crazy that may sound. Though it's certainly stressful at times, the teaching method is so interactive that you stay engaged and end up doing a lot of laughing thanks to classmates' tales of their experiences and the wit of
the professors. First, let's consider a "typical day." You have classes five days a week and have one or two classes per day. First class starts at 10 a.m. and you're done at either 01:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. After that, it's your call. Doesn't sound so bad, does it? The tough part comes in managing your free time, as there is so much you can do. Many hit the courts, gym or fields with sports. Others attend club meetings and volunteer events. Meanwhile, a large number go to see company presentations and guest speakers. This creates a sort of "opportunity cost" stress of deciding whether you want to go see another blue-chip firm discuss career opportunities, an university professor talk about how he succeeded, an icon like Warren Buffett share his wisdom and field questions or meet with others planning a networking event in London and Stockholm, all while your friends are harassing you to play hoops because they haven't seen you on the court in two weeks. In other words, "stress" here is created by having so many great options from which to choose, but it's a "stress" we're incredibly fortunate to have. The decision is all yours - none of the above is mandatory - and the wise person knows when to say "no" and just have a little down time. Whether you want to go full-speed or ease off the gas pedal, you'll always find a great group of people here willing to join you.
