Advantages: varied campuses
Disadvantages: many seem more like college
I found it to be more like college than university. This was probably becuause i was on one of the smaller campuses - St.Mathias. It is an old monestary in one of the cities suburbs. A very beautiful place to study as it has a rose garden, croquet lawn and old stone buildings. But it also has more modern facilites such as the main hall and the library. Unfortunatlely thats where i spent most of my time in lecutres.
The atmosphere was more like a college than a large university, this was mainly due to the size of the campus - only about 1000 students or so. Also, as most events and activities took place on the main frenchay campus, alot of people never made it up to them - lack of a regular bus service.
The level of education was on the whole excellent, with a number of lecturers standing out as would be expected. However, there is always someone willing to offer help and assistance if it is needed.
All in all i found this an enjoyable place to study, although if you are after a more standard university experience - whatever that may be - perhaps the main campus would be bettersuited - ie. dont take psychology here for one.
