Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Everything
Possibly the worst University in the world.
I went to Westminster in my first year of Uni and leaving couldn't have come soon enough. My first choice was Queen Mary's but I failed to get the A in History to get in, although I got the other grades. I had decided against moving away, so my other choices were void. I spoke to a good friend of mine and she recommended Westminster to me as she was also going there.
I rang up and told them my grades and they were shocked that someone with my grades would want to go to their University. This is when bells should have rang for me but wanting to stay in London there were very few other choices.
The campus, although in Regent Street, one of the most expensive streets in London, is very old and worn. Inside it looks like the university has not been decorated for about a hundred years.
The teachers are terrible, none of them have had anything published and they are just not good teachers. Most of the work here was spoon fed except for the important points on how to write a University standard text for example, which they teach you nothing on, or how to reference, which they also teach you nothing on.
One teacher did not know that the Liberal Party had ever had power in Britain!!!! How can a teacher not know this?!?
Another teacher lost my essay twice, then asked me to email it over to him, which he lost on his system somehow, he then asked me to go to University to hand it to him personally, which he lost AGAIN!!!! I then submitted it by email, post, in the essay box and it was already on the University system that looks for plagiarism. It then took the teacher 8 months to mark the work, when it was supposed to be back in a number of weeks. Things like this just does not happen at any other Uni.
The choices of modules available to take is also very small so do not go here if you actually want a choice on what to study.
The people who go here are also educationally challenged. Do not expect a decent debate in class on any subject. This may sound snobby but I am working class and a snob is the last thing I am. It's just not good 'learning' with people who are not very bright.
There is little student life and travel into zone 1 on a travel card is very expensive.
Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary: A university for life's losers
