As far as the college goes, it's in a kickass area...5 mins walk from the city centre and the actual college buildings, although small, make it look like a mini Oxford uni (without the clever students of course.)
It's a nice place to look at from the front, but out the back, the brickwork and the inner city ghetto bring it down.
as far as bars go,well there's 3. One is only open till 1.30pm, one closes at 3pm and the main one till 11pm but with a late licence every other friday till 1am. That would be cool as hell if you could fit more than 100 people in at any one time!
If you're gonna go for one thing, then make it the xmas and summer balls. Absolutely wicked, with top bands playing every year. Dum dums, Emma b and cheggars this year. can't wait!
Nightlife... well all i can say is that it all goes a bit pete tong after 11pm. if you like your music specialised whether it be house, garage or indie then i suugest you pay a visit to leeds coz all you get here is cheese! There are plenty of pubs (apparently one for each day of the year) most cater well for students and you have a great choice dpending on your preference. Trendy cafe bars when you feel rich, cheap studenty pubs when you don't, and plenty more as well. there are 3 cinemas, the City Screen being my favourite. It's conveniently central, offers student discounts and shows independent as well as mainstream films. If your overdraft will allow shopping then you have a great choice...French Connection, Gap, Designer Outlet, lots of independant fashion 'boutiques', HMV, Virgin Megastore, Discovery Store and Gillygate adult shop and Bootham Private Shop (2 mins from campus guys!!) being some highlights.
Top residences to be in is definatly the Grange, but don't expect to sleep for more than 3 hours a night as the walls are made of paper, and the parties are loud.
Oh, and graduation at York Minster ain't half bad either!
