This UPS is a high voltage model. It is user-selectable for 208, 220, 230, and 240 VAC at 50/60Hz. This is a rackmount model designed to be used with rack, cabinet or shelter-type configurations. It comes with rack mounting rails. It has nine IEC-320 AC receptacles separated into three load segments of three outlets each, with one load segment containing an IEC-320 16-amp receptacle. It supplies an RS-232 serial communication port, and a Remote Emergency Power Off (REPO) port to allow for UPS shutdown. It has a 16 A IEC-320 inlet connection for power. This line-interactive rackmount model UPS protects connected equipment several ways. First, it protects against spikes and surges to 330 Joules with a response time of less than a nanosecond. Second, it monitors incoming power with Buck and Double Boost voltage regulation to raise voltage during brownouts and to step down high voltage. Third, its network-grade line conditioning protects data from line noise contamination. The front panel features simple icons and LEDs to indicate power status, battery charge, load level, site wiring fault and other diagnostic information. Visual and audible alarms alert users to situations that require attention. Protection continues when the power is out. A hot-swappable, user-replaceable battery is instantly on when power fails. The battery provides 15 minutes of backup time under a typical load to give users a chance to save important files. Compaq employs Enhanced Battery management, which doubles the service life of the UPS battery. This three-stage charging technology avoids the trickle charge method that can prematurely age a battery. A typical battery may expire in 3 to 6 years, and is easily replaced through the UPS front panel. The R3000H UPS is ready for network protection with an RS-232 communication port. The enclosed Compaq Power Management Software pack includes driver/agents for NT, OS/2, NetWare, UNIX and LanSafe III. This comprehensive Windows-based power management utility works seamlessly with Compaq Insight Manager. It lets network administrators customize control over monitoring, power management, startup/shutdown and diagnostic tools. During an extended power loss, the software initiates unattended, prioritized shutdown of client workstations and multiple servers. This UPS also features a slot to add one of two UPS option cards. The multi-server UPS card provides individual serial communication ports for up to three servers, and allows computers to be mapped to load segment groups to extend battery life and manage multiple platforms with one UPS. The scalable UPS card combines up to three UPS through communication serial ports to create a single, large UPS to provide increased power levels to connected loads.
