Leunig ePowerswitch EPS M8Being scaleable, an ePowerSwitch M/S system can contain from 8 to 40 individually controllable power sockets. With just two components (a master and a slave), even larger applications - for example in data centers - that adapt to changing requirements, can be implemented. This module contains the Ethernet interface and the central web server. With eight sockets conforming to IEC 320, it can also be operated as a stand-alone device or expanded with up to four slaves to 40 sockets. The slaves are normally interfaced with the master through a serial connection (a daisy chain), from where they are also controlled. Alternatively, one or more slaves can be controlled directly through a standard V.24 interface. A convenient control program is available for this purpose. You can also write your own, plain-text programs. Up to four slaves (32 sockets) are connected together and can be individually controlled through a serial interface. Installation could not be easier: the ePowerSwitch master is simply connected to any PC through the serial port and a cable (supplied as standard), from where it is then configured. Only the IP address, the subnet mask and, if required, a gateway address need to be assigned; no other protocol settings are necessary. After its configuration and connection to the Ethernet using a normal patch cable, the ePowerSwitch Master is ready for use. To switch the connected consumers, the website of the master is opened in a web browser and the master or the respective slave selected and the corresponding password entered. Depending on the user's rights, access can be assigned down to individual sockets. If several users try to access the switch at the same time, the system remains under the control of the first user unless he does not make an input for two minutes. Routers and other devices also need to be rebooted from time to time. A "remote administrator" would switch itself off during a reboot. This can be prevented with the Auto Restart function: When the appropriate button is clicked, the connected equipment is switched off and automatically restarted again after one minute. A programming interface has been implemented for automating all switching operations in IT and industrial applications. With this new feature, the switching state of each socket can be queried and controlled. Common languages, such as Visual Basic, C++ and Delphi, can be used. With its master/slave technology, the ePowerSwitch M/S has an exceptionally high packing density of eight connections per 19" height unit, saving you precious rack space. In addition, each unit has a separate power connection and is fitted with its own fuse. This increases safety and provides an exceptionally high switching current of 50 A at maximum specification. ePowerSwitch is fully independent of the platform and operating system of each operator station, provided that they support the TCP/IP protocol and have a graphics-capable browser (e.g. Internet Explorer or Netscape). It is independent of other servers in the network. A network with ePowerSwitch devices can also be operated without a server. The ePowerSwitch is password-protected against unauthorized access. The latest switching states are permanently stored in the device's built-in memory and are immediately available again after a power failure. |
