Probably the most important item of equipment that comes with your mobile phone is the charger. When I upgraded my phone to a Blackberry Torch I was suprised to open the bag with the charger in to find that it was in pieces and needed putting together. The reason for this is that the charger is different to others as it is a travel charger.
As I say the charger comes in a few pieces and you have the main charger unit which is just like a normal charger without the actual plug on. On the back of the plastic unit there is quite a bit of information printed, none of which I understand but I presume they are the safety information mainly in the form of small symbols. There is also the Blackberry logo printed which shows it is the official product. The wire is attached to this part and it is really quite long in comparison to other chargers I have had in the past. At the end of the wire is the small connector to plug into your phone so you can place it on charge. Along with the main unit you will find two attachments, one being a standard three pin plug for use in the United Kingdom and a two pin plug for international use. The plug easily slots onto the main unit and clips into place and is very sturdy. To remove the plug there is a small button (which says push) which releases the clips so it slides off with ease.
I never travel so I have no need at all for the alternative plug but my dad also has a Blackberry and he regularly goes abroad so the fact he has this option is quite good and he does get use out of both plugs.
The charger is extremely light, again in comparison to others I have had but doesn't seem to be flimsy. The wire is a double wire so it appears to be quite a tough one, however one day I plugged it into my phone and realised after about an hour that it hadn't charged it up one bit. The reason? My kitten had chewed right through the wire!! Thankfully you can buy replacement chargers online so I was able to get a new one quite quickly. I purchased a new charger on Ebay for just £1.99 and it came the next day which was fantastic. The only downside to buying a replacement charger I found was that the wire was significantly shorter and that was a bit of a problem when I was charging the phone up at work (which I shouldn't be doing really anyway!!) in that it didn't reach my desk.
I don't think I can really recommend a phone charger as such as everybody who has a mobile phone needs one but all I can say is that for the price you can buy a replacement it is a good option to have. The charger is sturdy and the added plus of it being able to be used abroad is great. One thing to note is that the price of the replacement I personally bought was a standard plug only, if you wish to buy a travel charger they are priced at around the £4 mark.
Thank you for reading my review.
When i first bought my Blackberry Curve from the Phones4u shop it came with this RIM Blackberry Travel charger. This travel charger is very different to any other charger i have had before, as usually mobile phone chargers are plain chargers for the UK. The charger comes with two separate adapters, one being the three pin plug which is used in the UK. The other adapter is the two pin plug which can be used in various foreign countries. As well as these two attachments, there is the main bit of the charger, this is what you attach the plugs on to. The main charger is black and is in the shape of a chunky cuboid. The wire of the charger is quite long which is very convenient if you are like me and constantly on your phone whether it is charging or not! The wire is also as if it is a double wire, so you would think it would be less likely to break.
Attaching the adapters onto the main charger is simple and easy. All you do is slide the adapter into the space at the back of the charger, once the adapter is attached onto the main charger you will hear a clicking noise, then its good to use! Changing the adapter is also very simple, the back of the charger has a button with the word push engraved into it, you just push in the button and then slide the adapter back off, it couldn't be any easier.
Now you would think because the wire is double than other simple wires that it wouldn't break. But I am afraid my Blackberry charger did break. I found that after I had the charger for a long time, it stopped charging my phone properly. At first I thought maybe it was not plugged in correctly all of the time as sometimes it would charge. But then i eventually realized that it only worked if the wire was in a certain position, this meaning that my wire had sadly broken somewhere. So I then decided to just get a cheap charger, however this also broke as my rabbit chewed it. Then my phone also broke, so luckily i was given the money by my insurance to go and get a Blackberry, this meaning i got the Blackberry Travel charger again! This charger is going strong so far, however it could become like my old one and break!
But, this travel charger does have its advantages. It is extremely useful to those who travel abroad often as it is easy and saves them having to buy more adapters for their phone charger. I found that when I last went abroad there was never enough adapters! So this Blackberry travel charger will certainly come into use for me when I next go abroad.
These Blackberry RIM Travel chargers can be bought from the Amazon website for a cheap price of £4.54! I would recommend if you was too buy one that you bought it from Amazon as this is a super price.
I personally think this charger is excellent as it provides an adapter for the UK as well as an adapter for other countries but unfortunately the wire did break on my old charger, but I had been using it for over a year.
Thank you for reading my review!
When I got my Blackberry torch phone included in the box was of course the phone charger which is an essential piece of kit when you have a mobile phone really.
The Blackberry charger is different to any other charger that I have had in the past and this is simply because it is designed to be a travel charger as well and so it comes in a few pieces. You have the main charger unit which is a sturdy piece of black plastic with the Blackberry logo on it as well as various other bits of information printed on the front most of which makes no sense to me but I can make out that the charger is made in China. The main unit of the charger has a long wire which has the small usb connector on the end which fits in to your phone to charge it. As well as the main charging unit you also have two different plug attachments so you have the standard three pin plug which we are used to in the UK as well as a two pin plug which is suitable for use in some foreign countries such as Europe and North America.
The whole charger seems very well made and not like it is going to break. I find that it is very easy to attach the attachments to the main charger unit as the simply slide down on to the unit and you hear a clicking sound when they are fully attached. It is also easy to remove the attachments should you need to as there is a button to push which releases it allowing you to slide the attachment off.
Now I don't really travel abroad but it is certainly an option that I am looking at in the next couple of years and so I find it handy that I could use this charger when I go. It would be very handy for people that travel frequently I have to say but for me most of the time the UK attachment is connected and I have no need to change it at the moment.
I find that the wire on the charger is quite thick and much like a double wire compared to those that I have had with my phones in the past which makes me feel more confident that the wire won't become damaged and leave me needing a new charger. The wire also is quite long and so it reaches wherever I need it to so when I am at work it will reach over to my desk and such like.
You can buy these RIM chargers from amazon for just £4.60 which comes with free shipping and I think this is an excellent price, even if you wanted to have a spare charger in your bag which is something that I like to do. For the price all I can say is that the charger is very well made and does the job it is supposed to do well but also has the added extra of being flexible so you can use it abroad too.
Thank you for reading my review!
When I purchased a Blackberry Bold last year I received this travel charger with it. I received a charger with three adapters that could be clipped on and off the main wire/plug when required. The three adapters that I received were the standard UK 3 pin plug, 2 pin round & 2 pin flat plug meaning whether it's France or Australia I visit I should always have the right head for my charger to prevent my battery from going flat.
Each of the adapters was wrapped in it's own protective wrapping and I leave them like this when they aren't in use. It's very simple to change the adapter heads as you just need to press down on the 'push' area of the back of the charger and then lightly press the adapter head upwards. This can be done immediately after removing the charger from the wall with no adverse affects which is ideal if you are about to head off on holiday but need to charge your phone first!
The wire for this charger is very flexible and I find it very easy to wind up and around the plug if I need to pack it using as little space as possible. My wire has been chewed several times by my kitten, presumably while it's plugged in and she's not been electrocuted yet, to my knowledge, so it's fairly robust. It has also been shut in the door a few times and still works completely fine. The wire is fairly long enabling me to plus this in behind my bedside cabinet and stretch it over to my bed if I want to play games on my phone in bed at night.
Overall this is a very useful product, it fully charges my Blackberry battery in a number of hours and is easy to interchange. The charger does not get too hot when in use so if need be I can charge my Blackberry, pack it up straight after and be on my way! This charger is reliable, works quickly and has not let me down yet. It can be purchased for around £8 from Amazon and most good mobile phone stockists and I would firmly recommend it if you are a frequent traveller or even if you just holiday abroad once or twice a year as for an extra few pounds you'll be able to have your phone with you wherever you go.
These days there is no shortage of options for charging and we consumers could be forgiven for getting a bit confused when it comes to deciding which is best for us.
As far as my Blackberry is concerned, the decision was made for me as I was issued with this little charging pack when I got the phone from my employer.
Now it has to be said that for the most part, when at my desk, I use the USB charging option and got into the habit of charging it up in the afternoon prior to the journey home. Because I am not a heavy user, I have never had any real issue with losing charge. However, on the odd occasion when the battery does let you down, it always seems to be when you need it most.
On the trains thesedays, you can of course plug in via a standard 3 pin plug and in the car there are a range of other options, so it is only really when I am away from my laptop and not on short journeys that I would need to use this charger. Truth be told, this travel charger has had very little use.
It comes in a little box which has the charger unit itself, fitted with a standard 3 pin attachment, together with two little plastic slot in adaptors for 2 pin round and 2 pin flat plugs. These just slot into a groove in the main charging unit and are quite sturdy little items which are made in China - probably for just a few pence. What is good about them is that the pins themselves are securely fixed and cannot go all loose and wobbly as tends to happen with older designs. Because they simply clip into the main unit, again they are a really snug fit and don't leave any wiggle room. When assembled with the main charger, you feel confident that you can use it safely in a two pin plug socket.
There is no doubt that when travelling abroad, these would come into their own, but for those who never leave the UK, this is one accessory that will be seldom or never used.
I felt a bit miserable when I got my blackberry charger broken after lending it to one of my friends. I didn't exactly know which part or which element in my charger that was broken, but it didn't charge my blackberry. Perhaps it was the wire that's broken, but I was not sure. So I decided to buy the new one. Blackberry is a very important daily thing for social network addict or for those whose life really depends on connection. I need to have my blackberry on everytime since I need to be connected by email. And I do my jobs mostly by using a blackberry. I call it my better half anyway. :p so I realized I desperately needed to buy a new charger. I couldn't only depend on USB which is connected to the laptop or PC to charge it.
My previous blackberry charger only had one removable adaptor, which only fits with the socket in my country. Then I decided to go to the electronic store to buy a new one, and I was offered a blackberry travel charger, which has three different removable adaptors which fit international sockets. I was so interested, since by chance, not very long after my buying a new charger, I had to go abroad to attend a student exchange. I was so excited and bought it immediately. In that time I knew, that my choice was right. The price was affordable as well.
The original charger given in the box of my Blackberry only comes with one removable adaptor. But I got the new one which comes with three different adaptors. The first is the one with three pronged plugs, and the others with two pronged plugs. It is very useful, since I didn't have any difficulties when I go abroad for student exchange, I still had my blackberry on everytime. One of my friend didn't charge his phone in the airport when we just arrived, since he didn't also bring an international adaptor. I could charge it directly because I got the travel charger, just chose one of those adaptors of the charger that fit. I was still connected whereever I am and it was so cool.
I really consider it worth buying. With a cheap price, it will definitely help you to make sure that your blackberry is fully charged and help you get connected always, everytime and everywhere, no matter what country you are in. It is also so easy to bring, it is light and really fit in your travel bag. You can buy this travel charger with approximately £8. Of course it is not that expensive for the thing that gives you benefits.
If you own a Blackberry you may notice that the charger looks strange, this is due to the fact that you can change the fitting of the plug to suit the socket depending on which country you are in. Unfortunately, Blackberry's don't come with the other fittings and this is where the Blackberry Travel Charger pack comes in. In black, the charger is similar to the one you own for your Blackberry but the pack allows you to adapt your charger to fit into North American and Europe/Australian sockets aswell. The kit comes in a basic black travel bag to keep it all together and the charger has an in-built 12/24 voltage converter (to adjust depending on location). The charger has the Micro-USB to connect to your Blackberry mobile phone.
As this is an official RIM (Research In Motion) product this reassures me that not only is it compatible, it also is of a high quality. Compared to the charger I recieved with my phone I am very happy with the rate at which it charges, and abroad it is also efficient and you will find it takes roughly the same amount of time to charge as in the UK.
The removable travel adapters simply slide onto the charger and I have never had problems with changing the adapters. Due to the high quality of this travel kit it has stood up well to prolonged use and the travel bag will keep it safe and together in your suitcase/hand luggage on trips. Overall I am very impressed with the quality of this product, and for around £8 they are a very reasonably priced accessory for when you travel abroad.
When my Blackberry charger decided it would stop working I had to quickly find a replacement. Being dependant on my phone for both my social life and my business work I had to get the first charger I could lay my hands on and the RIM Blackberry Travel Charger was the only one I could find in my local town. It cost me £9.99 which is a fair price for something that is essential, particularly with the 13 month curse of Blackberry batteries.
With this charger you a 2 in 1 phone charger that will allow you to charge your phone both at home and abroad using the plug adaptor. It comes in three parts, the base charger which connects to your phone, the UK plug socket adaptor and the adaptor for plugs abroad. The blackberry chargers always feel very lightweight and so does this one but it fits sturdily together and feels well made as you would expect.
You may never use the travel adaptor but it is definitely worth having in your backpack if going abroad and it saves you buying one as inevitably you will forget and be left without charge if you go on you hols.
It works a treat, taking about 4 hours to charge a phone fully from scratch, it doesn't get hot like some chargers and has a good lifespan.
All in all a worthwhile charger with a handy travel adaptor

Although the Blackberry has a much better battery life than my older phones I have been in a few situations in my life where the phone dying has been a mega inconvenience so this is why I have decided to take no risks and invest in one of these.
First of all it is really cheap to buy. Second hand you can buy it for just a few pounds however I do like things to be reliable just in case so paid 8 pounds dor mine.
The charger allows you to use it at home but also abroad. If you travel alot this is useful but for me it was great during my holidays keeping upto date with friends and and not having to conserve my battery by switching my phone off all the time.
The product comes with 3 different adaptions. Firstly there is the plug base which has a lead that goes into the phone. I found this fits perfectly just like your normal phone charger. Next you have a 3 pronged plug for use at home and the the 2 pronged plug for a abroad. Both are easy to use and takes seconds to attach to the base.
Reliability wise it has been good to me so far and it takes exactly the same time for my phone to charge using this as my original. I was a little worried about the use of the adapter long term but have had it for a few months now and it still works great.
Because it is small it is easy to carry around with you and pack away. I take this in my travel bag if I am visiting friends. Even if you do not go abroad I would recommend you use this as a spare. Its a good investment at a good price.
