Advantages: A handy, free piece of software
Disadvantages: I didn't know about it when I started with cashback sites
INTRODUCTION
I have been using the handy piece of freeware as part of my daily click regime on cashback sites. I thought it was worth reviewing on here as it also helps to keep your hard disc "clean" and I think that's also useful to know about.
THE PROGRAM
This can be downloaded at:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
There are frequent updates available so it's always worth checking. You can install a new version without uninstalling the last one, though you lose your previous settings.
Basically, this program removed temporary files from your hard disk that you probably don't want to keep permanently. Note that it does it for the logged in user account ony, so you'd have to use it on your various accounts should you have configured your PC like that:
In Internet Explorer browser:
Temporary files, URL history, cookies, Autocomplete form history, index.dat.
In Firefox browser:
Temporary files, URL history, cookies, download history.
In Opera Browser:
Temporary files, URL history, cookies.
In Windows:
Recycle Bin, Recent Documents, Temporary files and Log files.
In the Registry :
Advanced features to remove unused and old entries, including File Extensions, ActiveX Controls, ClassIDs, ProgIDs, Uninstallers, Shared DLLs, Fonts, Help Files, Application Paths, Icons and Invalid Shortcuts
In Third-party applications:
Removes temp files and recent file lists (MRUs) from many applications including Media Player, eMule, Kazaa, Google Toolbar, Netscape, MS Office, Nero, Adobe Acrobat, WinRAR, WinAce and WinZip
PLATFORMS
This is downloadable for Windows 98, NT4, ME, 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista
CONCLUSION
I would really recommend this piece of software to compliment you usual virus protection and spyware. It's quite time consuming to clear out your cache if you have several browsers, and with one click, voila, it's all done, as well as cleaning out for example your recent documents list, which can get a bit untidy after a while.
I use it specifically between clicking on cashback sites. For example, Carsource is a common daily click and on some cashback sites, can be clicked up to 5 times. Between each click on one site, I close the browser and run ccleaner. This seems to work even better than just refreshing the cache manually in the browser itself, and in fact has led to a huge increase in click success rate for multiple clicks! I also use it between cashback sites too, as well as for general admin, i.e. when turning on and off my PC.
