Advantages: Awesome power, simplicity
Disadvantages: Searches take slightly longer
Copernic 2000 is a meta-search tool that uses all the major search engines concurrently to present you with a single ranked list of results and summaries. It is available for free, with the option to upgrade for additional search engines.
I didn't bother much with the free version, but spent the small fee on the upgrade without hesitation, and I urge anyone who searches the web to do the same.
As well as general web searches (both worldwide and for the UK), you can search for recipes, games, software downloads and many others categories, each utilising specialist engines for the category.
Searches are saved for later instant retrieval, and can be rerun.
There is an option to use its own browser and store web pages, but I can't get that to work. It seems unnecessary anway.
If it sounds complicated, it isn't. If you can use a search engine, you can use Copernic. Searches take a bit longer to run of course, but it saves a lot of time in the longer run.
Bottom line? Look no further and try it out.
