Advantages: Saves on paper and ink

Disadvantages: none really

Fineprint is a utility, which acts just like a printer, i.e. it appears as a printer option in the printer dialog box. Should you chose to print to fineprint you will find that the fineprint program will open and allow you to design the way your pages will look. It can be downloaded in demo form or purchased online for $19.95 which equates to roughly £12 (if your quick)

Basically fineprint is a utility, which enables the user to print documents, and indeed whole books in less space than one would normally require. This means that several normal pages are printed on one standard page, the user of pages is dependant on how you set up your requirements, which is easily down through the fineprint software. You can print 1,2,4 pages per page or up to 8 pages if required, the print font is reduced and the output sent to your selected printer as per normal. The quality of the small print used is superb. You can also output your document in booklet form, and simple adjustments in the program window will give you a preview of the orientation and order in which the will be formatted.

You can also if you choose incorporate a stationery stamp on each page which acts very similar to a watermark, I personally haven't come up against any circumstances where I might need to use this option, but it is there for a reason and I' guessing that that reason is that someone somewhere does use this option. You can create your own letterhead and have this displayed on each page, whilst you can also use this clever software to create professional looking invoices. All these options are available by simply ticking the option box next to the required element.

I use it mainly to save ink and paper when printing out a lot of my poetry, and I am quite impressed at how good the printed documents look. There are some instances though where after printing it does not look like you had envisaged, and for a while I was blaming the software, but as usual my gung ho attitude had me neglecting to untick a box, easily remedied.

All in all this is a nice and useful piece of software for someone who needs to print of a lot of pages from a document, but does not really require that the print is full page. As I mentioned the output quality is good, and the price is reasonable. The only difference between the demo and the paid program is that the demo prints a very small print line declaring that the document was printed using fineprint. This is printed at the bottom of every page. If interested the demo or indeed the program can be downloaded at www.fineprint.com.

Summary: A neat utility to save ink, and it looks pretty toogood

Fine review, if you'll pardon the pun, a money-saver as well if you undertake a lot of printing.
