I saw a Sega Mega Drive emulator CD-ROM at a open market, I was a bit dubious about buying it, as it looked a bit knock off, but I decided to take a chance because it was only £3. I ran the CD as soon as I got home, and I was extremely impressed, it has two emulators the genecyst and the Kgen. The CD features over 150 classic Sega games including Sonic the Hedgehog, Fantasy Island Dizzy and Golden Axe, my favourite game on the CD is Columns. You can use your PC’s joypad or the keyboard to control the games. The best thing, of all is the game can be run directly off the CD, so you just insert the CD, run the emulator, and it doesn’t take ...  Read the complete review

I have recently discovered that the games I used to play as a kid are still a lot more fun than any of the new games I have paid a fortune for recently. Old style sega console games were easy to get into as well as less taxing on the brain. I have found a great website at WWW.EMURATER.COM that has free to download emulators and games for Sega Mastersystems, Megadrives (genesis), Super Nintendo and a few more consoles. The best emulator to download is the Genisis one, the games have better graphics than the Mastersystem, are easier to play than the Super Nintendo and there are hundreds of them. Each game downloads in seconds and are easily un-zipped. Because of ...  Read the complete review

Genecyst: Play sega games on your PC (120 words)

If you've got a Sega Megadrive and want to play the excellent games (such as the Sonic The Hedgehog series and Colmuns) on your computer, the Sega Genecyst is the answer. This emulator is brilliant for both graphics and sound. It uses the full screen, exactly as you would see on your television with the real console. Rom images for the emulator can be downloaded from many places on the internet (only legally if you own the original game) and most games work. It's really easy to set up too. Just extract the files into the folder of your choice, double click the icon and away you go - provided you've got som rom images. ...  Read the complete review

Well, it's an emulator. It is a small program which plays ROMs on your PC. In this case, the emulator is a Mega Drive/Genesis emulator. The ROMs (games) are about 1MB and the emulator is about 500k. Since the Mega Drive in the early 90's Sega has been going downhill. This product is Sega's last true success. Although not doing well in Japan or Asia, when it was released in Europe and America it was a huge success! Everybody loved it and with good reason. Those superb 2D platforms revolutionised the games industry. Although Sega hasn't done so well recently if you like retro gaming or enjoy playing good video games and don't care if it isn't the edge of technology here is the perfect alternative! ...  Read the complete review
