Okay so you have a PC, before you plug the thing into the mains and turn it on you NEED to have virus software installed. Why so adamant? Well these days your viruses affect me and everyone else who use the Net, so many times have my webs servers been scanned by Code Red infected systems and the like. Even if you don't connect to the net, you need virus software if you have any kind of file of any value, or even if you don't want to risk having your computer rendered useless by BIOS flashing viruses (the nastiest beasts in all computerdom). I had 3 viruses on my PC pre net days, so they did exist before the behemoth that is the net was in common use. Since having the net I have been sent dozens of viruses by people who didn't know they were infected (im not that unpopular!) and have seen viruses in all kinds of software downloaded from the net.
