Anyone remember the NeoGeo? It cost like £2-300 and the games were almost as much!! Now the name SNK is like the holy grail in terms of old-school arcade games. They made the finest series of beat-em-ups -"The King of Fighters", "Samurai Shodown" and "Fatal Fury". I remember going to the arcade stalls on seaside holidays pumping the machines full of coins....... and boy when I found out you could get these games playing on your PC I was so happy! I downloaded the emulator, got some ROM files and started to play! Perfect sound, perfect controls and perfect gameplay with graphics to boot! What you have to keep in mind is that you are suppose to own the actual games before you can "legally" download the game. However recently many people have taken on the attitude that if the game is no longer making money for a company then it should be okay to download it. I would have to agree there, half heartedly, because by downloading the game, you wouldnt actually harm the company. However, I would not substitute playing these games at home for the arcade experience! Back to the emulator!... It has a cool interface with great features - you can capture screenshots, record sounds, switch on layers of sounds AND layers of sprite graphics...There are various setings for the graphics, enhancing them by either blurring or sharpening. The controls are fully customisable, with added "hotkey" features (you can assign a hotkey to press several buttons at once). You can even play games at "full throttle" - playing them at twice the speed that they usually are at! There are virtually no Cons in this emulator - maybe only the fact that it will waste a lot of your time!!!!! Get it if you love the old-school gaming days!
Neorage lets you play neogeo games. The neogeo, was probably the most advanced 16bit arcade console of its time with the best fighting and shooting games around. When the console version of it was released, the games cost about 2-300 pounds each..! that was the days when RAM was very expensive, and SNK used sheds load of it. More to the point, this little prog. lets you play any of those classic software games. But there is a catch. In order to play it, you need to download a copy of the games you want to play. This is illegal, unless you have the actual copy.... so while you can play games, you can also get prosecuted..! Have i played any games.. well that would be telling so i wont answer that, but what i can say is that from various screen shots, the games do work and LOOK EXCATLY like the arcade version. Use this this emu. to play the games, but please, don't download copied games, if you don't own the original..
I have been using emulators for years and was used to to the Unix-like terminal window of most emulators. Okay it was Dos but coding an emulatar takes brains, I'm sure they code have made a decent GUI. Anyway, then NeoRageX came along with it's stunning frontend and wide range of features. NeoRage took a while to develop but now it has finally come of age with sound and support for a lot more games. NeoRageX just gives it a great GUI which makes playing the games a lot more enjoyable. There are great games for the NeoGeo aswell, so take the plunge and download it. Soon you will be reliving the arcades of the early ninties. Don't make 'em like they used to!
The Neo Geo is such a good little games machine unfortunatly all the latest games are only being released in Japan as they weren't selling enough here.If you want to get all the new releases for free this does it very well. It does slightly defeat the point of a portable games machine, but still the games are very good and extremly addictive. This emulator works very well. If you arn't sure which roms to get download sonic it is brilliant! Enjoy!
