Advantages: Excellent at fixing various problems with your PC
Disadvantages: System resources used by the application, Product activation!
Symantech's latest production, Norton Systemworks 2004. Symantech have the definate advantage over other developers with Mr. Norton rolling out Systemworks for over 20 years. This 20 years of experiance is evident in their software, which is simple and easy to use, while making sure that all of the advanced features a power user would be after, are still there. This is not one piece of software, but a package containing varous Symantech products, in much the same way Microsoft often bundle their products together. When you buy this, you get: Norton Antivirus Norton Utilities Norton Go Back Norton Cleansweep Norton Password Manager The program has a great feature, which is the one click system cleapup. You press the button, and away it goes, scanning your system for various problems, including viruses, and fixes them. The virus scanner has an auto update feature, which is nice. This allows you to keep your virus definitions up to date, which really you should do once a week at the least. Those of you with broadband connections, it makes sense to scedule the update at say 3am each day. This way, you know that your definitions are always up to date. A new addition to the package is Norton Password Manager. This package offers to look after all of your internet banking details, credit card numbers, etc etc. A nice addition if you ask me. On the minus side however, product activation! Following in MicroSoft's footsteps, Symantec give you 15 days to activate, before your new CD turns into a somewhat expensive frisbee. So with excellent functionality, and a decent price tag attatched, I would say this is definately the anti-virus/PC maintainance package to go for!
