Yey! we've joined the world of Skype. Why haven't I done this before! My daughter who lives in Plymouth (I live in Wolverhampton) has been nagging me for ages to get Skype installed. I have been to www.skype.com and I have just downloaded it. After a bit of a false start we've made our first call!

It didn't go quite to plan (but then what does). I could see and hear her, and she could see me but not hear me.

I'll sort that out later. We swapped over to the laptop and had a different set of technical problems, which I will also add to my list to sort out later. If you are not technically minded get one of your younger relatives to sort it out!

Main thing is we're connected. I wasn't so worried about the Free Calls you get with Skype, we already get free unlimited calls from our landline. If you don't get free calls get Skype right away! What I was getting all excited about was being able to see the family at the other end as we chatted.

If you live a long way from your parents or grandparents INSIST they get Skype and a webcam. It will make their day seeing the grandchildren scampering about. It will also allow you to keep a bit of an eye on them if you are worried about them.

I am sure that there are lot of other thing that you can do with Skype like, link it to your facebook profile and allow you to shop, but it's early days yet. I'll just enjoy watching the babies for now. Thanks Skype!
