Advantages: Free Phone calls to any one using Skype, Very cheap to call non members

Disadvantages: Randomly sends calls to voice mail with no notice of call for several hours.

I came across skype quite by accident. I was clearance shopping when I came across a skype phone on clearance. As it was only $5.00 I got it because it also included $10.00 skype credit with it. Well I was soon to find out why that phone was on clearance it quit working the 2nd time I used it. The phone may have quit but Skype is still going in my home.
Every 3 months I pay a very small fee averaging out to about $7.00 a month for unlimited calls with in the USA and Canada also that plan includes a phone number for my friends and family that are not on skype to use. Not only is it a phone its so much more.
My brother and his wife use Skype and we Video Confrence it does my heart so good to be able to see my nephew. Not to mention the hours that we get to spend on the phone talking.
Skype also offers a basic text chat option as well. Skype is the phone of the future. They just need to get a few small glitches worked out.
The only problems I have had with Skype is that it will for no apparent reason some times send calls directly to voice mail but not show that any one has called for several hours. So you miss a call you never knew you were getting till its way later. The connection sometimes is not that great and the callers voice will lag out or break up. Other wise Skype is a great product.
With skype it may seem like a conventional phone but you are not able to call 911(Emergency assistance), but yet you can call some one from a web page with the click of your mouse. Skype is a great program that would make any one want to drop there land line in a heart beat.
I maybe using this phone to keep in touch with all my friends that are in the USA but I also use it to call my friends in the UK that are on skype. I think that the best thing about this service is that you can talk to your friends that are clear across the world from you and not have to pay a penny for it. I have seen the phone bill go from a simple one page thing to 20 pages and 1000's later so for me Skype is a winner and will always be a winner as long as it works flawlessly the way it always does.
