Skype

Skype is free software that allows you to make free video calls over the internet to other users whom have Skype installed on their computer. With skype you can also use your computer to make cheap calls over the internet to regular landline phones and mobiles all over the world. This is a great way to call international or 0845 numbers without paying a hefty phone bill. As these calls are routed through the internet they are made very cheap.

Skype is an absolutly wonderfull piece of computer software that is becoming more and more useful as computers develop. A few years ago this would have been of limited use, but it seems everyone and their mum has a webcam automatically built in on their laptop these days so this has limitless possibilties.

It is very easy to use, and pretty much idiot proof to find your friends on there. One down side is that if you want to make regular calls using skype you have to deposit £10 which you can't get back if you don't use it all, and on top of that they charge you £1.50 VAT.

Also sometime the call quality is bad, and it has dropped some of my calls before unexpectantly.
