Disadvantages: Some people may not like the old skool games that it plays
I never got to own a snes. I was just a poor lad trying to grow up in this cruel, cruel world. My best friend had a snes, well actually two (including his brothers). All i wanted was to join in with his gaming fun. Alas, it was not to be, so i had to spend every minute of my spare time round his house so i could play the likes of Bomberman and Super Mario Kart.
Having matured (a bit) and being sucked into the information whirlpool that is the WorldWideWeb, i discovered emulators.
Want to play the orignal Mario or Sonic
Even want to play Jet Set Willy on the Spectrum its possible.
Having such a choice to choose from when it came to snes emulators, i ended up guessing, and although i cannot compare it to any other emulators, i am sure the Snes9x is one of the best.
The graphics are brilliant and exactly as would have been seen on the real snes.
The sound is also perfect.
A game genie cheat code program has been included for those who are stuck on the last boss of Final Fantasy 6.
There is also an option to play over the internet! I haven't done so yet, but if i could play Bomberman over the net, i wouldn't get any sleep for months.
The save feature is also great. At ANY point in the game you can save in one of 9 slots. Now it is possible to complete a 25 hour game such as Chronotrigger without saving (or at least thats what the game thinks).
It works on the Windows systems and i think thats it so mac users will have to look elsewhere.
I have never come across a ROM that hasn't worked on the Snes9x. So overall, this is a "must" download for any games fan, young or old. Keep it retro y'all.
