Symantec Norton Utilities 2000 ... Utilities is billed as being the best utilities that you buy. In addition, will help you to maintain your PC and keep it in top condition. What a load of rubbish. We installed it on a machine at work for the disk doctor, as it is good at unmangling disk. It will unmangle about 95% unless they are really bad. That is the best bit of the whole package. From there, it goes down hill. The machine that is installed on has many files dumped on the hard disk and then removed again (I work on a IT helpdesk) But it runs like drains. Symantec Norton CleanSweep 2000 Upgrade ... Cleansweep can be a very useful program if you use it properly. it will clear out all those un desired files from your hard drive that build up over the course of time. I do however advise caution when using this program. So far as to say never turn off the safety sweep function. The safety sweep is there to make sure that any files that are "possibly" needed are left well alone. I have never used this program once with the safety sweep turned off and everything be left working. It has a nasty tendancy to delete DLL files from some of your favourite programs. Symantec Norton CleanSweep 2000 Upgrade ... must admit to not being overly sure what most of this program actually does. I wouldn't regard myself as a computer expert but nor am I a beginner. The basic idea is that your computer can be slowed down by redundant files, cache entries, cookies etc etc. That's where Cleansweep comes in. You can clear out all unwanted temporary files and files that are no longer needed, perhaps by an uninstalled application, with the click of the mouse. it sounds like a good idea in principle but in reality is isn't that easy.
