Advantages: none

Disadvantages: they never leave you alone, incorrect billing is common place and poor customer service

With a title such as that, you will rightfully persume that I am not best pleased with British Gas - and here's why.

Every few weeks, some bimbo or prat from British Gas knocks on my door to get me to sign up with them. I am not interested and am fed up with telling them that. It is even more annoying when you have arthritis and it is difficult to get to the door, especially if they knock when you are in the shower.

I had once used British Gas to supply my electricity but due to the continued and sheer incomptence of their customer services and metering team, I told them to get lost (although a more colourful metaphor would have been more apt).

According to British Gas, the customer (me) should pay for electricity that I have not used and I should also pay for a different meter reading to that which is installed in my home. Despite repeated letters and telephone calls, they still are billing me for something I do not owe - this is over twelve months after quitting their "service". basically, they are trying to charg me for an electricity meter that has a different scale on it then what they said (it was removed and replaced but the halfwits at British Gas still ignore me) Not very good, is it?

As they will not sort anything out, I refused to pay the last bill for my address and if they are stupid enough to try and sue me, I look forward to the day in court where I shall proove openly that there is no way in hell they are entitled to money which I do not owe. Naturally, I shall seek damages from British gas if they try anything.

British Gas do not give a damn about their customers and often use tatics of intimidation to force money out of people. You are messing with the wrong one, British Gas.

Let's see if anyone from the comapny would like to comment on this summary of their bog-standard supply service (they can supply the "stuff" but cannot administrate anything)

I'm with DIA1. I am having trouble with a telecoms company atm that my younger daughter was obliged to use when at Uni. They have suddenly deided (12 months later) that I still owe them £15.41, and have sent me a very threatening letter. My calculations show that THEY owe me £1.54. Since they will not justify their arithmetic or show where mine is at fault, we are gonna have FUN FUN FUN !

Shall i send you my pickaxe handle ?

I too had a problem with BG they billed me £210 for gas when I didn't even have a supply. This went on for two years to the extent of being threatened with court action. After numerous phone calls they eventually sent someone round to verify that I didn't have a gas supply nor even a meter.Despite all this they then billed me for £10 standing charge! Happily I ignored them and have since moved so they can whistle for their ten quid! good op btw

Woah! Calm down!
I've rated SWU because you don't explain why you don't owe them the money - how are they wrong on the amount you owe? I had a similar experience with them with the gas - they billed me for a full years gas when I first moved into this property, but I sent them a polite letter telling them that I had only moved in recently, and they sorted it out, taking my reading from the date I moved in as being correct and sorting out the bill.
You accuse BG of not giving 'a damn' but you don't say that much other than that - explain your case more clearly and I will come bacnk and re-read and re-rate.
