Advantages: they will replace faulty parts...if they ever get to your home in the first place

Disadvantages: customer service - 0 points, response to a breakdown - 0 points.

I had an emergency breakdown of my boiler. I called up BG and was appointed with an 8 to 1 o'clock slot time during which an engineer would visit two days later. There was no 24 hour emergency service available. I have a 3* heating, gas, plumbing and drains cover. Needless to say the engineer never turned up. The operator allocated another 8am to 1pm slot the next day. At 1pm I called them to find out what happened only to learn that the engineer was having lunch(!) and "will be with me shortly". During the day I was given various reasons as to why the engineer was delayed and heard the "will be with you shortly" at least 5 times. At 6PM when I phoned them yet again I was informed that the engineer won't be available until Monday! For two days I was exposed to this extraordinary display of arrogance and incompetence. I am now switching to Powergen. People, STAY AWAY from British Gas.

Summary: Worst service ever, no respect for customers. STAY AWAY from BRITISH GAS.
