Advantages: not sure, actually none

Disadvantages: badly run business

British Gas is a well established energy company. It sells gas and electricity.

I am not happy with British Gas. From March it will charge £5 for people who don't pay the bill on time. This is a very stupid thing to do for British Gas as the bills that I have been getting in the past year had been arriving a month after the billing date and two days later were followed by remainder. My question to British Gas is if you can't get your administration right why should the consumer pay.

British Gas bought gas at the highest possible price and the consumer had to pay the cost.

I am considering changing. I have to wait till April because that is when the next phase of price cuts begins. Have to wait for the cheapest supplier.

Since all the suppliers of Gas buy from same companies it is difficult to find best deal.

I will be moving from British Gas come April because I don't think it is a well run company. Last four quarterly bills were sent one month late and I had few days to pay. I have considered paying by direct debit. However I have read stories of energy companies taking out over £1000 more than money due and not paying any interest on that.

Summary: Don't use British Gas

I would have to disagree with the comments made I think #1 a £5 charge is fair 4 weeks is more than enough time to pay a bill why is it no one complains about late bank charges they have been doing it for years. #2 pay by direct debit you get a DD discount which is approx 5 times more than interest rates at the bank #3 who implemented the prices cuts first and on same day of annoucingn the cut?? British Gas its simple dont be daft set up a Direct Debit and keep an eye on your statements and give actual meter readings if the statement shows ests. I have been with them for years with no trouble also they are the cheapest supplier if you dont mind your bills being emailed check out www.clickenergy.co.uk i have

I am thinking of changing supplier from British Gas too - if I can persuade my landlady to let me.
