6 months ago I moved into a new flat. To be more specific, I kept my previous flat, but I also needed a second flat for work reasons and upon getting the keys from the landlord I found out that the Gas and Electricity where with British Gas.

I called British Gas and told them I wanted to move to a different supplier. It took me some time since you have to talk to 2 different departments for gas and electricity.

After a week I got a letter saying that the were sorry I was leaving and bla bla. I had also contacted the new supplier and got the welcome pack.

In the meantime I was sending back all the mail which was not in my name, and it was a lot.

After 3 weeks I got the final bill from British Gas and I was shocked that it was for a higher reading than the one I gave them. I called them and after 40 minutes it turned out that the previous tenant had left the property leaving a much lower bill, the landlord told me that he did not feel responsible for the short come and together we sent a letter to British Gas.

After 6 weeks I was not allowed to move to my new supplier because of the unpaid bill. At this point my current bill with Briths Gas had also increased since I owed them 6 weeks of usage.

I had to send one more letter to a different department.

After 3 months, finally, the matter was sorted, but now I still owed money to Briths Gas, who sent a final bill. In this way they have managed to get 3 months of my money.
