I was'nt long living in my new house when a british gas cold caller calls to the door. He has this story that he's in the area today to correct the high prices that where mistakenly place on my meter by the local service provider which was N-power.

I know hes full of it, but I ask him straight out whos cheapest and he gaurantees me british gas are cheaper. Then he works me out an estamate and he signs me up for a 35 pound a month direct debit which was alot cheaper, I was well inpressed.

Few months later everything is going fine,I change my bank accounts and ring up British Gas to change my details. End of the month comes along and they mess it up and take the money out of my old account which knocks me overdrawn.It was two bills as well so I got charged twice.

I ring british gas and wasted about a tenner while I was kept on hold for a half hour. Then when the phone answers this crazy women starts threatening me saying in a really aggressive tone, " Your in arrears of two hundred pounds you have to pay your bill by the 21th or we will enter your house with force and install a meter on the wall. You will be charged a further 50pounds and you will be put on a bad credit list. Bla,Bla ,Bla gimme your credit card number now to pay the bill". She was basically not listen to what I had to say and was trying to scare me into paying a bill i didnt even know what it was for.

I was so mad, I felt like like getting a train to british gas centre where ever it is, and just beat her with the phone american phyco style. So naturally I yeld back at the women " stick your meter up your £$%^ because Im moving back to Ireland at the end of the month anyway so Im not paying me bill at all now so %^$£ you". I was only bluffing obviously I was so mad I had to say something but it shut her up.

So eventually I managed to dicover that the estamate on my account was only half of what the real bill actually was and this was the extra money that the women was talking about, even though I was getting letters from british gas saying my estamate was fine and did'nt need to change.

So as soon as I got paid I had to fork out for this extra bill and an extra charge of fourtheen pounds for paying it late. I was seriously gutted.
To compensate me for this fowl treatment they refunded me back my bank charges after I wrote a number of letters complaining to there manager.

To be honest energy providers are all as bad as each other,theres no escape.Its just one of the annoying things in life that we have to deal with like bad weather or cold sores,but the one thing I have learned from this, is to manage my bills online.Open an online account, and under no circumstances waste my time, and money talking to rude people that bring out the worst in me.
If anyone is considering building a huge wind turbine in there back garden, just go for it.
