i used to be a british gas customer for 3 years, im now with n power {which i be writing review for later}, and though i have a mixed review of british gas to give, i am going back to them as even british gas are bettere than n power!
when i moved into my last propery, the very first day, the old meter was in debt {prepayment} and there was a power cut in the whole village where i lived, i rang british gas a though it took 30 mins to get through they came out at 10 pm when the power was back on to reset my meter and gave me the £20 i put back in, very helpful when you have got a toddler and no heat in the middle of november.
i was an electric customer only, and i was putting £10 a week into the prepayment meter for a small 2 bed flat, which i think was a fair price, problems only started when i moved into my new home, moving the account over to my new house was a nightmare i was on the phone for over two hours and the customer services was unhelpful and rude, i was ringing them on the friday as we was moving in on the monday so i wanted everything ready and to be sent a card for prepayment ahead of time, they told me i couldn't be sent a card until i was in the property offically, so i hung up and my husband rang later when he got home from work, he eventually got them to send a card, but it didnt turn up for 6 weeks, luckly my local shop gave me the white tickets so i had electric, yet though i was having electric so i could have it my money was actually going to someones account.
two months later i had a knock on the door, from a man from n power offering me 25% less to pay with them than british gas, so that day i went over to n power for more details see my n power review whcih ill be writing after my dinner!

Summary: rather british gas than n power
