Advantages: pay outstanding debts weekly.pay as you use.

Disadvantages: none

After having a huge bill for £220 last year and knowing that I didnt have a hope in hell of paying that amount out in one go,I telephoned British Gas to inform them of My situation.

I found them extremely helpful, they suggested that I use whats called a gas card.
With the use of this card,it would mean that I could spread the payments of My present bill over a number of months.

To enable You to use the card, first British Gas send around a serviceman to fit a meter in a discreet place, under My stairs.
He then sets the meter to accept a very small proportion of the amount outstanding each time I place the card into it.The amount for debt was only £4,I hardly notice it paying it this way.

Within a week of having the meter fitted, the gas card arrives through the post.
You then take it into shop that has a gas card charging facility, most Newsagents in My area have one. Then decide how much money you want to put on it and pay the shop assistant.

When you get home, place the card into the meter, wait for a bleeping sound, press the red button and the meter accepts the amount you have put on the card, deducting the £4 debt at the same time.

You get a quick reference guide to help you understand how the meter works.
The meter also allows you £2 emergency credit that you can use if the amount on the Gas card runs out, this is handy if its going to run out late at night.

On the front of the meter there is a screen to view any information you need to know about what you owe,how much credit is on your card and how much you still owe on your debt.
This information is contained on numbered pages accesed by pressing either the Red button or the Black one.The reference guide will tell you whats on each page.

I have never looked back since I had this installed, its a great pay to pay for your Gas and not only outstanding debt but also the Gas you use for that week.

I always dreaded the high Winter G
as bill,I had no way of seeing the cost of the Gas I was using until that huge bill landed on the doorstep.

Gone are the days where if you couldnt pay,you were cut off which was a frightening thought.

I have had this meter installed for about eighteen months now and I have never had a problem with it.

I have one of these too. I find I put on about £15/20 in the winter and only £5 in the summer. (per week that is).
