Why are British gas one of the dearer suppliers. I can only assume it is for the reasons that I left them to join the wonderful "Virgin Engery".
I had both gas and electical supplies through British gas, as I signed with them before de-regulation. I was a model customer, paying by direct debit to get a small discount (and guarantee them payment on time every time). So why did I leave them to save a £20 a year?

British Gas did not recognise me as a customer. Phone calls, cold-calling doorstep salesmen and a general flood of canvassers in my town made me realise that a lot of money was being spent trying to get customers back rather than keeping the ones they had.

Often I was called or the doorbell rang asking if I wished to place my electricity supply with them, which I already had!. Do you not keep records British Gas?..you bill me but don't stop pestering me. I am hardly going to leave the TV on after I am in bed or keep the heating running longer than neccessary. Likewise, they should not be spending an absolute fortune in trying to win me over as a customer when I already was one. It is an insult to me as an individual customer that you didn't recognise me as one. Let's face it, I am the one that pays for the advertising by paying the inflated prices.

Virgin are renound for their customer care, which is why I went over to them (and the sales girl was wonderfully polite and couldn't do enough for me). I am only saving £20 a year, but I would rather have my account with a company that treats customers as indivuals. Here endeth the lesson.

i am having problems with Scottish Power at the moment but i will not them get away with it :)

"Hear, hear". I have in the past had companies canvassing me when I was already a customer. I tend to take that personally!
