Advantages: Looked cheaper

Disadvantages: Came at tea time, never a good idea

It seems everybody is jumping on the bandwagon to sell services now, gone are the days when the MEB sold electricity and The Gas Board sold gas, the latest is good old Sir Richard Branson whose trusty employee turned up tonight to convince me to change (again!)

I put it in the words of a little ditty......called........

The Virgin Gas Man

A rep from Virgin came to my door
Trying to sell me CH4
He came at 5, t?was not the hour
For anybody to try to sell me power.

He told me Sir Richard now sold Gas
Cheaply too, so I should not pass
The opportunity to change supplier
For my current gas was priced much higher.

I let him speak, he was brave and bold
But my nice hot tea was going cold
Can I sign you up, he did enquire
His calm sales pitch I did admire

?Have you a leaflet I might take?
I?d really read it, no mistake!
For saving cash is a good idea
But me tea?s going cold, I made that clear

?Sir Richard doesn?t like to do that?
The Gas man said, he tipped his hat
?Leaflets just get thrown aside?
Poor Sir Richard taken for a ride?

Sir Richard?s Gas sure does look cheap
But I?m OK just now, I?ll lose no sleep
At the thought of losing a couple of bob
Glad I ain?t got your gas man?s job

Door to door in howling rain
Hearing ?No? time and again
But when his shift is over, he?ll retire
To a nice bright, warm, cheap Branson fire

I hope he comes back here, one fine day
If it?s not at tea time I?ll sign away
For I like Sir Richard, Megastores and all, his nice cheap Gas and the cheap phone call !!
