Disadvantages: Paying more for your electricity.Dubious operational practice

Beware nPower doorstep selling.They capture business by falsely quoting low montly charges leaving your account in arrears which is collected later.

They mislead you by claiming there are one off discounts of £60 which make them the most competitive price.If you compare prices using an independant review website such as Simply Switch or Uswitch you can quickly obtain the best deal available.They came in as 14th best price on the comparison I checked.

Their doorstep salespersons are commision based agents who are disowned by nPower when you complain.The salesperson will deny that the £60 discount is included in the comparison sites,when it is.

How do I know? They manged to persaude my 72 year old mother to take up a contract which would have cost her £350 p.a more than her existing supplier.Luckily I spotted the blatant deception within the cooling off period.

Why do we need doorstep selling of electricity and gas? It's an intrusion and an added wasted cost in trying to churn customers from one company to another. The companies do not have sufficient control over the doorstep sellers and the practice should be outlawed.

In 2003, Npower were fined heavily by Ofgem for this malpractice.In 2006 it continues !! Beware.
