Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Expensive in the long run, non existant customer service

This company Npower has caused me nothing but hassle, even leaving them has caused me headaches. Having three properties I'm always check uswitch.com on a regular basis to get the cheapest gas and electricity, always saying to myself, 'I dont care what the customer service and reviews are for the company as long as I get the cheapest fuel'

Having been with this company I have definately changed this view on that!!

After being with them for a year I was supposed to get an automatic £80 rebate for using both gas and electricity and paying by direct debit. I spent three months phoning and e-mailing npower to get this. Phone calls costing over £40 pounds! They rarely answer e-mails, when they do they never do what they say they will.

I have also spent numerous months telling them that I'm being overcharged for my fuel, they are supposed to estimate your direct debit payments on your usage. However this company over estimates this considerably, one to get interest on your over payments and secondly you are less likely to leave them if you have a large credit balance(s).

This all fell on death ears. I then decided to go to another company. But having credit balances has been a problem. Three months after switching they still have not refunded all my credit balances.

Having read other reviews on this company it is obviously a ploy on their part to deliberately overcharge. A lot of people dont notice they are being overcharged, but even customers like myself who keep tabs on the bills I was unable to reduce my direct debit payments. They even sent me letters stating that they were going to increase my payments, even though I had credit balances running into hundreds of pounds.

So you have ALL be warned, steer well clear of this company, even if they are the cheapest out there you will definately lose this benefit by losing the interset you would have got from your bank as it will be sitting in theirs earning interest.

Summary: YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!

I stand corrected it was £60 last year, but I'm not arguing over the amount but the fact it was not paid automatically after 12 months.

in response to your £80 discount, you wouldn't have got it becasue it was only brought into effect this year. Therefore, it would be 12 months from the date of which your direct debit account went DUAL FUEL that you would get it. The max you would get this year, should you have had had BOTH gas and electricity on direct debit for 12 consecutive months would be £60. If it was only either gas or electricity for more that 12 consecutive months, it would have been £20. If either or both fuels were on direct debit for less than 12 months, you wouldn't get anything.

We are with them too and not impressed! We are due for our duel fuel rebate in november so will have to keep a close eye on them to make sure they pay! Ann
